Company History
Salamina Inc. has been a key player in the Canadian food service industry for over forty years. Since its inception in 1977 within a modest facility in Montreal, Quebec, the company has been dedicated to producing premium pepperoni under the now renowned Salamina brand, initially catering primarily to the greater Montreal area. Rapidly earning acclaim for its exceptional quality and service, Salamina quickly garnered market acceptance and established a formidable market presence. This success prompted the company to broaden its product range and distribution network, spanning across the entire province of Quebec and Eastern Ontario.
In 2005, Salamina elevated its status in the market by relocating its headquarters and production facility to a state of the art meat processing plant in Laval, Quebec. This strategic move significantly expanded its production capabilities and reinforced the company’s commitment to its markets.
Presently, Salamina has competed a significant expansion initiative, encompassing not only a substantial enlargement of its facilities but also the integration of advanced equipment and additional packaging lines. This enhancement has significantly augmented production capacity, positioning Salamina as a premier producer of fully cooked meat products for both the food service and retail sectors across Canada, with forthcoming expansion into the US market.
Specializing in fully cooked pork meat products, particularly pepperoni and pizza toppings, Salamina prides itself on delivering products of unparalleled quality, consistency, and flavor under various brand names, including Salamina, Sadis, Sorriso, Montreal Traditional, Colonial, Windsor, and Niagara. Moreover, the company manufactures numerous private label products for a diverse clientele, ranging from local wholesalers to nationwide industrial accounts. With a flexible approach, Salamina remains receptive to new product opportunities and ideas, including custom manufacturing, provided there is adequate volume to support it.
